Harry Potter Notable Hufflepuffs Ranked By Power
Hufflepuff has never been the most popular or powerful House, but how do its famous alumni rate in terms of their own individual power?
Out of all of the Houses at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Hufflepuff definitely gets the least amount of attention. Even if the attention that Slytherin garners is bad, at least it gets more respect than Hufflepuff.
However, that negative reputation is almost entirely unfounded, as Hufflepuffs can be some of the kindest, strongest, and most loyal witches and wizards in the world. And while they never brag, plenty of them have accomplished just as much as the most famous Slytherins, Ravenclaws, or Gryffindors too. But out of all the most well-known Hufflepuffs, who are the least or most powerful?
10 Zacharias Smith
Thankfully, Zacharias Smith was featured so briefly in the Harry Potter movie series that he barely made it in the frame (he's the kid all the way to the left), but in the books he was really an insufferable little jerk.
Hufflepuff definitely has its own House ideals, but it's also the House that just takes all the leftover kids, and Zacharias unfortunately appears to be the latter sort of student. He basically showed up to troll the Golden Trio and was last seen fleeing the Battle of Hogwarts, pushing first-year students out of his way like Michael Scott in a fire drill.
9 Cedric Diggory
Cedric was certainly no slouch in the magical department, and he distinguished himself as not just the most powerful Hufflepuff, but the most powerful student at Hogwarts when he won his place in the Triwizard Tournament.
Had he actually survived the tournament, he likely would have become a major player in the wizarding world, but when his life was prematurely snuffed out, so was his power standing.
8 Teddy Lupin
Teddy Lupin was just a baby when the original Harry Potter saga concluded, but he sounded like a veritable badass in the future.
Obviously he got a lot of magic mojo from his parents, and he inherited his mom's metamorphmagus abilities as well. He wound up becoming Hufflepuff's Head Boy, and with the likes of Harry Potter looking out for him, clearly he was a Hufflepuff to watch out for.
7 Hannah Abbott
Like most Hufflepuffs in the wizarding world, Hannah Abbott only got a brief moment to shine in the Harry Potter series. However, her future seems pretty bright.
She was a Hufflepuff prefect and a member of Dumbledore's Army during her tenure at Hogwarts, and after she left, she wound up marrying Neville Longbottom and running The Leaky Cauldron. Given what a mainstay the Cauldron is, it seems like she was a significant member of the wizarding community at large.
6 Pomona Sprout
Every head of each individual House at Hogwarts was obviously a force to be reckoned with, and Pomona Sprout is no exception.
As the professor of Herbology, she was a master of one of the fundamental arts of witchcraft, and while she clearly had the biggest influence over Hufflepuffs, given that she taught literally every student at Hogwarts at some point, she's one of the most influential people at the school.
5 Theseus Scamander
Aurors are some of the most respected and feared witches and wizards in the entire wizarding world, so given that Theseus Scamander was actually Head Auror in one of the biggest magical crisis eras in history, it says a lot about him.
It also means that he was an incredibly powerful wizard, both in that he was extremely magically powerful and that he exerted a lot of control over the wizarding world as a whole.
4 Nymphadora Tonks
Tonks might not have ever ascended to the office of Head Auror, but her diverse skill set and connections throughout the wizarding world made her quite the power player in her day.
Obviously being a metamorphmagus is a pretty extraordinary skill, and the fact that she was a key member of the Order of the Phoenix shows that she had significant connections to the brightest and most powerful magicians in the world.
3 Newt Scamander
At first sight, Newt Scamander does not seem like the type of person who would forever change the face of the wizarding world, but his expertise with magical creatures as well as his actions in the war against Gellert Grindelwald turned him into a veritable legend.
There are some people who are better with magical creatures than others, but the relationship that Newt developed with so many powerful beings gave him the kind of power that most witches or wizards will never come close to.
2 Fat Friar
The Fat Friar only appears in the mainstream Harry Potter series as the Hufflepuff House ghost, but his backstory is actually fascinating, and his accomplishments are impressive. He was taught by Helga Hufflepuff herself, and he used his magical abilities to cure muggles of illness.
Unfortunately, that kindness is what got him killed in the end, but he's certainly an influential Hufflepuff, both in life and the afterlife.
1 Helga Hufflepuff
It should come as no surprise, but the most powerful and legendary Hufflepuff of all time is the titular lass herself, Helga Hufflepuff.
Helga not only founded one of the best witchcraft and wizardry schools of all time, but her philosophy of teaching all those who seek to learn undoubtedly influenced the wizarding world for the better in a way that the other Hogwarts founders simply did not.
